SEPTEMBER 2020

A MESSAGE FROM OUR EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR

By Christine Hess, Nevada Housing Coalition Executive Director

Dear NHC Members and Housing Stakeholders,

Housing is complex and multi-faceted, and it touches every single Nevadan. We all know this and now we layer on a pandemic, economic recession, eviction risk and hot housing markets – these challenging times call for a collaborative, comprehensive and innovative approach to solutions for Nevada’s housing recovery.

One of the positive outcomes of this most difficult time is how we have come together to leverage resources, capacity and support – and the Nevada Housing Coalition wants to provide a framework for continuing this through, and beyond, our recovery with your active engagement and input. As a stakeholder in Nevada housing, we invite you to participate in our virtual, 2020 NEVADA HOUSING SUMMIT on October 27-29th.

The virtual 2020 Nevada Housing Summit will bring together developers, property managers, community service action groups, local governments, elected officials, housing advocates, financial institutions, education, healthcare, business and more. Your participation AND engagement are critical. Results of the Summit will help inform the priorities and identify policy and programming gaps for the Nevada Housing Coalition and its partners. Please SAVE THE DATE, October 27-29th, for a variety of panels and speakers to inspire, educate and inform!

In the meantime, the Nevada Housing Coalition continues to engage in the immediate COVID-19 housing conversations and activities. Additionally, we are working beyond the Pandemic, providing Bill Draft Recommendations to the Nevada Housing Advisory Committee for consideration and testifying at the Board of Finance meeting regarding the high-speed rail project.

Be safe and well,

Christine
